Delaware Lackawanna Ice Cave – Industrial History

An explorer looks up into the light while surrounded by ice. This cave is actually a train tunnel that has been abandoned for at least 100 years. The far north portal protrudes from the mountain and has collapsed.

A low view of the Miller Mountain Farmstead - The family who ran this farm sold their land including the surrounding mountain to the state to be repurposed into a state forest. This land is low open to the public for recreation!

Taken in an abandoned coal mine. At this point, the main slope splits into two. 2024 Nittany Grotto Caving Club photo contest submission and first place winner.

The Scranton Long Lines tower silhouetted in the sunset. These towers carried long distance telephone calls before copper and fiber covered the country. This was shot with a super-telephoto lens from the top of an adjacent mountain.
