2023 - July

Voga was made on Jul 28, 2023 out of an old cheap wine bottle. It was created from a shore sample of the Griffin Reservoir in Clarks Summit, PA. This image shows the exact ratio of soil:water:air used, as well as some of the plant clippings I added. Email me if you can ID these plants.
I decided to plug the bottle with the original cork, so it isn’t 100% sealed.
2023 - August

By this point Voga reached its initial stable state. The plants grew quite a bit and the soil settled. The following life is present:
- Tubifex worms (clear from the soil)
- Daphnia
- Small freshwater snails
- Some algae at the top.
2024 - June

For roughly a year, Voga turned into a black sludge jar with seemingly no visible life. The soil had red streaks throughout it and no movement could be seen inside. During this period, it fluctuated from completely opaque to just “quite dirty”. This picture shows it in a “quite dirty” stage.
2025 - December

Since the summer of 2024, Voga cleared up by itself. The plant size stabilized and the snail population exploded, which is responsible for cleaning up the glass. There are only a few Tubifex worms in the soil, and the level of daphnia remains constant. Algae is visible at the top again. Going into winter, the snail population has decreased a bit.
