A coal mine tunnel which has been resourcefully braced with rails to support the roof.
This transfer station moved carts back and forth between tracks when going up and down the shaft. It was powered by a hoist (left, not pictured).
This mine hoist solely existed to power a transfer station, making small movements to shift carts between tracks.
An old explorer left his mark where the tunnel ends in collapse.

Deep in an abandoned mine, a mine shaft sits still as the groundwater trickles down. It really feels like a gate to hell when you are down there. This shaft was double-tracked to support carts moving in either direction.
A working Toledo Scale sits still in an abandoned hospital power plant.

Pipe Walk
Delaware Lackawanna no. 3007 sits idle at Steamtown.
The main, central alleyway of the Scranton Lace Factory. The facility is undergoing demolition at this point, visible in the back. The foreground buildings are quite overgrown.

The Sewer Angel
Deep in the mine on a photography expedition, an explorer's silhouette is seen in a cloud of cigarette smoke.
Emergency lighting on...
This EIMCO mucker sits abandoned deep in a coal mine. A mucker is a special type of excavator/bulldozer that scoops mud and launches it directly backwards over itself. These are especially common in underground mining where space is tight. The particular mine this machine was found in was filled with ridiculous amounts of mud, so it makes a lot of sense to find it here.
At the now-demolished Scranton Lace Factory, the final production run of lace can be seen sitting in a loom, cut off and left to sit forever.
